Waterfall Card - Stampin' Up!

Don't you just LOVE birthdays? Sometimes, we have milestone birthdays! You know the ones I'm talking about. For those who are younger, they may look forward to turning 16 (or 15.5 in some states!), turning 18, 19, 21, 25, even 29. Then we may (or may not!) look forward to some of the others for us who are young at heart - 30, 40, 50, even 60 and 70!

Well... (pause for dramatic effect)

One of my friends, and a fellow crafter, her husband and my husband work together! Her husband asked my husband for a birthday card for her, his lovely wife. And the last time she was at a card class here, she let me know that she would be turning 40 this year! Such a young 'un! At the card class, we were wishing we were turning 40! (huge smile!)

I just KNEW she was looking forward to a special card from her hubby! Game on, right? I definitely had to bring my "A Game" to make this card. No pressure; she'll only turn 40 once, right?

Because I just LOVE the English Garden DSP and how it looks with the Blushing Bride Cardstock, I wanted to use those two in her card. I LOVE all of the designs in the package, but the Blushing Bride/flower design is one of my favorites. The colors that are on this particular print are Blushing Bride, Hello Honey, Old Olive, and Soft Suede. All are on a white background, so I also used Whisper White cardstock.

And because I LOVE the new Bold Butterfly Framelits, along with their matching Butterfly Thinlits (how can you order one with out the other? It's like peanut butter and jelly - they just go together!), I wanted to use the Bold Butterflies with this card. And I thought the small butterfly would look nice, but how to coordinate all of these items? What to do? What to do?

So I pulled out an oldie-but-a-goodie! Anyone make a Waterfall Card lately? These are SO. MUCH. FUN. It really has been YEARS since I've made one of those!

Check it out!

Isn't it pretty? I did take a video of how this card looks when complete, and if I can figure out how to add it to this blog, I will! Basically, to give you an idea, you gently pull the Silver 1/8" Ribbon and each butterfly cascades. So you first see this blushing bride, then the hello honey butterfly, then the soft suede, then the old olive. Finally, when all the butterflies have "flown," you see the message. I also added a message inside the card for her husband.

Hope you enjoy the card!

Latte Joy Team Meeting - Stampin' Up!

Grab a cup of coffee or tea - there are a LOT of photos in this blog post!

On Saturday, July 11th, we had our Team Meeting. There are five of us in our local group, but two were unable to attend. I try to set up the room(s) the night before, but on this particular day, it wasn't until the morning of the meeting. My helper, Cocoa, is showing that he set up the Big Shot station! Oh wait! That durn opposable thumb issue!  :)
The calm before the storm

Nina and Sandie were able to attend (we missed you Charlene and Jeannette!). We get together once a quarter to talk business and share ideas. Here's a photo of the three of us.
The Three Amigas!
A good time was had by all!

We started with the business portion, going over upcoming dates that Stampin' Up! provides for us. We all agreed that we cannot wait for the Holiday Catalog. As demonstrators, we can preorder in August, and it will go LIVE to our customers on September 1st. (If you have placed an order with me since the new catalog came out, yours will be mailed to you in mid-August.)

Then we started the really fun part! The Shoebox Swaps! We each bring a card design to the meeting. Here we are - hard at work!
You can see Cocoa in the background on the right.
He's keeping us on task!

Nina is a Big Shot Pro!

You already saw the card that my friend Andrea Withers sent to me HERE, well... here's my variation on her You've Got This stamp and I think we all agreed this is a GREAT go-to stamp set:
You've Got This Stamp Set

Here's the card I made for our Shoebox Swap. It may look VERY familiar to you as this card design is ALL OVER the internet! I have no idea who came up with the original idea, but everyone seems to use the fern stamp from Butterfly Basics and the Brick Embossing Folder, completing it with sponging and a butterfly.

**We are making a variation of THIS card
during Saturday's Watercolor Wings card class too!**

Nina had us playing with the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and the White Christmas Stamp Set. If this 3-D item looks familiar, you know your catalog well! Check out page 68 of the catalog! She picked up her peppermint (and horehound!) sticks from Cracker Barrel. Gonna have to make my way there! Gold heat embossing, watercoloring with our Aqua Painters, fussy cuts - definitely need the Paper Snips!, some bling with our Basic Rhinestones, and SUGAR - who wouldn't have fun with this?!

* The Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine is not in this photo. *
Dawn's Treat Bag
No candy here yet!

And Sandie went with a classic and made it monochromatic. And we used the itty bitty pearls from the Pearl Basic Jewels on each of the flowers! Really an elegant card! The Thoughts and Prayers stamp set has ALWAYS been a favorite of mine and we use it A LOT! Sandie also used the Papillon Potpourri and Butterfly Basics stamp sets. Doesn't the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder look nice with this? Oh - and although this looks like it was made with Basic Black and Whisper White, it is actually used with Night of Navy and Whisper White

Using Night of Navy
I tried this same design but used the colors from the Regals Collection. Of course, I had to use my Regals Stampin' Write Markers on this.

Hope you have enjoyed the great ideas! You can tell, I have a WONDERFUL and VERY TALENTED group of ladies that I get to work with!

Watercolor Wishes Card Kit - Stampin' Up!

Crafters  -

Today, I am anxiously awaiting Mr. Brown (that's the UPS guy) to deliver my package from Stampin' Up! I only ordered one item but it's an item I have been waiting for - since MAY! You see, as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, we get a few sneak peeks. One of them was the catalog. It came with our preordered items in May. That way, we can look through the catalog and prepare for our classes and kinda look at all the items in the new catalog.

My catalog had sticky notes all over it! And I had a Wish List about a mile long (slight exaggeration there)! Well, I saw the Watercolor Wishes Stamp Set on page 80 of the catalog and thought "Yeah! I WANT this set! It has so many great sayings!" Anyone else think that?

Then I read the fine print underneath "Clear block included * Exclusively available as part of the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit (p.155)" and I thought "Well, ok, that'll still work! And I'll have 20 cards! Cool!!!"
Watercolor Wishes Card Kit

So, to the TOP of my Wish List it went! Yeah....

Ever notice something? When you wash your car? Then it rains? Yeah.... I'm that guy (or gal, in this case)!

Because I REALLY wanted that stamp set and kit, yeah... it rained. I mean, Stampin' Up! advised that it wouldn't be available until mid-July. Is this the point I say "You're Welcome" because you have me to thank for washing my car? I mean, for putting this set at the top of MY Wish List?

I even missed the small print on the photo in the catalog (page 80) that states "*The Watercolor Wishes Card Kit will be available July 2015."

Stampin' Up! made the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit available on JULY 1st! I placed MY order for it on JULY 1st (at some horrible hour like 5:30 am! EEK!).

And it is due to arrive TODAY!!!!

And, to tie this all together...

Remember yesterday? I blogged about my Stampin' Up! friend Andrea Withers? You can read that post HERE.

Guess who is in the Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wishes Card Kit Video? ANDREA WITHERS!!!! She is such a ROCK STAR!!!!

Now YOU can see her. She is just as nice as she is pretty! And such a CARD herself at the end of the video! Don't know about you but I'm one of those geeks that always stays til the end of the movie to watch the credits. So glad I did with this video. I got to see her! Hi Andrea!  :)  (When you meet her, tell her you saw her video!)

As I was watching the video, I told my husband "That sounds like my friend, Andrea!" And it WAS her!

Seriously, I was glad to be able to see her and her smile. Doesn't she had just one of those perfect smiles? She really is just like that in person. And I'm so thankful and blessed that I was able to work with her all those years ago as a Make-and-Take Helper at a Stampin' Up! Convention. (Can't wait to get my Watercolor Wishes Card Kit today too!)

You've Got This - Stampin' Up!

Crafters  -

You already know what a GREAT company Stampin' Up! is. Their products are wonderful, the cardstock matches the ink matches the buttons matches the ribbon, etc. Wonderful!

Well, let me tell you about one of their wonderful people - the lovely Andrea Withers! I'm confident that many of the Stampin' Up! demonstrators know her. She's just the sweetest person you will EVER meet (IMHO).

I have blogged about Andrea a few times.
  • At Convention 2011, when I was a Make-and-Take Helper.
  • At the Chattanooga Regional 2012, when she saw me standing in line. AND SHE REMEMBERED ME! I tell you, these young kids nowadays have WONDERFUL memories!  :)
  • At Leadership 2013, when she was one of the speakers for the Ramping Up Your Social Media Presence.
I also saw her at the April 2014 Unite and Excite in Columbus and thought I had a photo and blogged about it, but I guess not ???? She told me at that time that she was taking a few college classes and we discussed it.

So, fast-forward to the end of June. The lovely Andrea called me about something and left me a message wondering if I was going to go to Convention 2015. As many of you know, my father passed away in February. We are having his Celebration of Life party on July 25th. That is the final day of Convention. Playing a fun game of Phone Tag, I called her back and left her a message explaining that no, I would not be attending and why. I also wished her luck with Convention and hoped she was doing well.

Guess what I received in today's mail?

She wrote a beautiful note to me about how sorry she was for the loss of my father and that she was sending me hugs from SLC! She even signed it with "hugest hugs! {heart} Andrea Withers." This is not something you receive from just someone on the other end of the telephone. This is something you receive from a very thoughtful person. Thank you Andrea for sending me such a nice note!

AND my team meeting is THIS Saturday. I already have my Shoebox Swap ready to go, but I think this will make a really nice card for each of us to make! The stamp set is a WONDERFUL set called You've Got This. The card base is Tip Top Taupe cardstock, Mint Macaron Classic Stampin' Pad is the green background design, Watermelon Wonder Classic Stampin' Pad is the flower, the sentiment is stamped in Tip Top Taupe Classic Stampin' Pad, and it looks like the flower and stem are stamped using the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad. It looks like she used a bit of Silver Foil behind the flower. She used her 2-3/8" Scalloped Circle Punch and 1-3/4" Circle Punch to punch out the center. At least, that's what it looks like to me. And that's what we will be doing on Saturday!

So Andrea - thanks so much for the note card and wishes inside, and thanks so much for the GREAT idea for my team meeting!

Online Quilting Cards Class - Stampin' Up!

Happy July 1st!!!

We celebrated hubby's birthday last month - and am STILL so thankful he continues to improve from his CRASH in APRIL!!! We were out in the sun the other day and I could see where he has healed on his face, because the skin is still a different color. His knee is still healing, slowly but surely (and don't call Shirley! - Anyone else remember that movie? Leave me a note in the comments section, if you do!)

ANYWAY, I digress! When hubby had his crash, I had several wonderful ladies at my home with me for my One Sheet Wonders Class. When we were crafting the cards, the quilting card was a big hit, so it got me a-thinkin'!

Quilting Cards Class
July 2015

How about a class on QUILTING CARDS? The card design we made in that April class was a big hit, so I came up with a few other designs.

Here's the grouping of the four cards in the July 2015 Online Quilting Cards Class:
Quilting Cards
July 2015 Online Class

For those quilters out there, you probably recognize all of the patterns! I'm not a quilter (YET!), although I am working on my first "REAL" quilt. The designs I patterned the cards after are, going clockwise from the top left (the whisper white card), the designs are Card Trick, Flying Geese, Basket, and Half Square Triangle patterns.

All cards used the English Garden Designer Series Paper AND the English Garden Cardstock Pack (I did throw in a little Blushing Bride and Night of Navy on one of the cards). And your 1" Square Punch is INVALUABLE in this class! There are a few extras used within the card designs too!

How do you sign up for this Online Quilting Class? It's EASY!

  • Place an online order of $50 (before shipping and taxes) with me during the month of July 2015
  • Use Host Code XBFBRY4G
  • Send me an email after you place your order - that way I can send it to you right away!

All instructions are emailed to you in PDF form with your list of supplies.

Hope you enjoy this online class as much as I did designing it!
