Doughnuts and Cards Class - Stampin' Up!

Crafters -

The new year will be here NEXT WEEK! WOW! I'm so excited about 2015!

You see, I am able to retire in 2015! YEAH!!!!!!!!! Don't get me wrong. I LOVE my job. I LOVE the people I work with and work for! If I didn't have this job, I would have NEVER met my husband (yes, blind dates do work! Thanks to my friend Theresa for introducing me to hubby all those years ago!)

But, I digress... The Coffee and Card Hour that we did in September, October, and November, was a really good idea. Everyone liked that they could stop in and make a card and be done in an hour. But the class needed tweaked a little. So, tweak I did!

On Saturday, January 24, 2015, from 9a-10a, we will be having a Doughnuts and Cards Class. The cost is $10 to make 3 cards in the 1 hour. You will need to bring your adhesive, or I will have some available for sale here.

Want to see the cards we will be making? Talk about some SNEAK PEEKS from the upcoming Spring Occasions Catalog and Sale-a-Bration brochure!
January 24, 2015 Cards
Doughnuts and Cards Class

All are notecard size. All supplies are available beginning January 6th and ending on March 31st.

From left to right:

  • Lotus Blossom Stamp Set. This is a FREE stamp set with a qualifying Sale-a-Bration order. All five colors of the new 2014-2016 InColors are used on this card. It also has an inside greeting.
  • Butterflies Thinlits Die. This is a set of THREE different butterfly thinlits and they are beautiful! The cost of these three thinlits is just $24.95! Imagine how many cute cards you can make with this! I paired this butterfly card with the Petite Pairs Stamp Set. This should be a less than 5-minute card, but does take about 10 minutes total because you have to get rid of all those little pieces from the die cutout. It is so easy - regardless of the time! And we added a little bling of Rhinestone Basic Jewels Embellishments for his body.
  • Moon Lake Stamp Set. You saw this stamp set used over the weekend at my Open House. Here's just another easy way to use it. We stamped and then colored it with miscellaneous colored pencils.
Two of the cards are NO LAYER CARDS! So easy to send AND make!

Oh, I did mention that I would have some doughnuts here to celebrate on January 24th, right? My 25 year work anniversary is actually at the end of the month, but doughnuts are good anytime!

Sneak Peek - Moon Lake - Stampin' Up!

Crafters -

We had so much fun this weekend. Several crafters stopped over on Sunday to pick up the Spring Occasions Catalog, along with the Sale-a-Bration brochure.

For those who placed an order in the past six months, they also received a little gift in their bag with their catties. Those who came really enjoyed them!

If you were unable to stop over on Sunday, please give me a call! I have a baggie set aside for those who placed an order in the past six months. We just have to get together to get them to you! (And your little gift is in the bag too!)  **If you already have a demonstrator, please contact her for your catties. If you don't - I LOVE to be your demonstrator!

During Sunday's Open House, I had set out some baggie books. I started doing these this year and I really like them! What happens is, you take a stamp set and there are four, five, and sometimes MORE, samples inside the baggie book. It is just a small way to allow you to look at a certain stamp set and get four, five, and sometimes MORE ideas! We all know we should be good stewards of our money, and this baggie book gives you several ways to use that one stamp set. What a GREAT way to get our money's worth!

And, because these crafters, gave up some of their Sunday afternoon to stop over, we also made a card using some NEW STUFF from the upcoming Spring Occasions Catalog. The Spring Occasions Catalog goes live on January 6th.

Check out the card we made:

Card made Sunday, December 22 with crafters
Moon Lake Stamp Set
New in the Spring Occasions Catalog
Beginning January 6, 2015

It uses the new stamp set called Moon Lake. There are three designs and three sayings. I can see me using this for SEVERAL masculine card designs and am already thinking of some sketches to use for the Church Card Ministry!  *HINT: Check back later this week and you will see another design made with this stamp set. We will be using it on the January Card Hour. Guess I'm going to have to start a baggie book for this set too, huh?  ;)

And do you recognize the Designer Series Paper? No? Well, let me tell you - you will LOVE this paper. It is called the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack and there are 48 sheets in a padded stack (4 each of 12 double-sided designs). The paper stack is 4.5" x 6.5" - so they are PERFECT for cards or to cut up and use on several cards! These look like photo quality prints too! LOVE - LOVE - LOVE this new paper!

Look forward to seeing you soon!

January Card Bash, Occasions Catalog, and Sale-a-Bration Brochure - Stampin' Up!

Ok, how about you? I am like the cobbler. His children have no shoes!  :)  Am I alone in this? I have the cards. They are made. I just gotta address them and send 'em! How do I miss sending the cards?!

I not only missed my wonderful friend Donna Jean's birthday on Sunday, but I also missed my friend Elaine's birthday on Saturday! Sorry ladies - I will be getting your cards to you this week! And I am sending the last of the Snowman Bookmarks this week too. Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them!

On Saturday, I was able to attend a FAN-TAB-U-LOUS class, actually TWO classes! You know it's really good when I drive FOUR (YES, 4!!!) hours ONE-WAY to that state up north. I'm not going to mention any names, but I live in the Columbus, Ohio area, so I'm confident that even the most non-sports-oriented people can figure out which state I visited on Saturday.  :)

Ronda Wade had a Saturday ALL-DAY class, with an optional class in the evening. Of course, I signed up for both! However, since it was a four-hour drive home, I got all the pieces and parts and figured that I could put it together, once I got home. So I did my stamping and visiting, and then headed home. All these ideas kept going through my mind! I just LOVE when I get to be the student at a class!

Here's a picture of the table at home with my LOTS of stuff on it. Can you identify anything in this mess?

Hmmm... The Big Shot on the left is easy. The paper on the top - easy. Ribbon, easy. You've seen the Snowman bookmarks HERE, I'm sending the last ones out this week.

But do you notice the notebook under the blue box? Gee, I wonder - What could that be? You guessed it! It's the January Card Bash Celebrations class!

Card Bash Celebrations Class!
On Sunday, January 11th, from 1p-6p, I will be offering a Card Bash Celebrations Class! Did you notice - 1pm until 6pm - 5 hours?! We will have a light lupper (lunch/supper) around 4pm. With this class, you will make the Card Organizer AND 20 cards! We will be using the Hip Hip Hooray Card Kit, found on page 197 of the big catty. The cost for the class and lupper is $40. Christmas Gifts - Your Thoughts? And some BLOG CANDY! - Stampin' Up!

Crafters -

Got a question for you. Please feel free to leave a comment below.

And to make it really interesting, I would like to offer some BLOG CANDY!!

You will receive the cards in the photo below. Leave your comment by Saturday, December 6th at midnight (Eastern time). I will draw one name on Sunday, December 7th. The winner will have until Wednesday, December 10th to email your name and snailmail address to me. That way you will receive these in plenty of time for Christmas! (**NOTE: Your name will only be entered once and this is limited to U.S. residents only).

So my question involves something I saw on a Facebook group today. The lady posted a question about giving a gift for a gift exchange at work. She was going to make the cookie mix in a jar, decorate it, and gift that for her coworker gift exchange. They have a $15 limit. I thought the cookie mix in a jar was a GREAT idea, but I like homemade gifts.

I feel that by being the recipient of a homemade gift, it shows me that the person took the time to make something FOR ME! They might not have known that I would receive the green decorated gift over the blue, but they knew they were making a gift that would be given to me. I like that kind of thoughtfulness.

Every year, I give a set of cards to the boy's teachers. Typically, I include 10-12 cards. I include Birthday, Thinking of You, Sympathy, Get Well, Cancer (What Cancer Cannot Do), and even a few blank cards. It changes every year! My husband makes the best Buckeyes BAR NONE!!!!! and we have included those in the past too. I have always received nice "Thank You" notes from the teachers.

So my question to you is... What do YOU think? Many of you who read this blog are cardmakers and crafters. Do YOU give a gift of cards? What has been the response to your gifts?

Several years ago, I gave a set of cards to my friend Rayma. Rayma plays the keyboard at our church and we have been in a few classes together over the years. I LOVE what she told me. She told me that she thought long and hard before she sent out one of my cards. She even used the words about sending a "Dawn card" to someone. I thought that was so nice! I make cards throughout the year and I always make extras "for later."

By making cards all year long, it allows me to have a number of cards to choose from for gifts. When I gift the cards, I take a long piece of ribbon and tie it around the set of cards. Some are plain, some are fancy, some are very feminine with glitter and flowers, and others are masculine.

Here is a photo of just some of my cards. I pulled out a box and just grabbed a handful. You may recognize some from previous card classes. Others you may have never seen before on this blog!
Just a few of my many cards!

Very eclectic mix of cards. Almost all are made with Stampin' Up! products because that's what I do! Some use retired products, because I keep many of the sets and papers that I really like. Others use current merchandise. But you do see the "cancer" card on the bottom left? That card is always a favorite. I made about 50 of them a few years ago and am now almost out of them. That one is made from NON-Stampin' Up! product (although the Butterfly punch is Stampin' Up!).

What do YOU think? Do YOU like handmade cards and handmade gifts? Do YOU like that type of gift better than a store-bought gift or even a gift card?

Leave your comment below and YOU may receive this set of cards. My gift to you! Hope you enjoy the card designs and I look forward to reading your comments!
