Pumpkineers - Paper Pumpkin - A Sara Thing

Crafters -

My monthly Pumpkineer meeting was on Tuesday evening. We had THREE new ladies join us for the evening, and we missed a couple of our regular attendees. BUT WE HAD FUN!

We made two alternate cards using the April 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit, A Sara Thing. The refills were available VERY BRIEFLY and then they sold out QUICKLY. I had purchased two extra kits, those were gone before FRIDAY last week. This was a VERY popular kit! I'm thinking watercoloring is here to stay!  :)  YEAH!!!!

Ok, want to see the closeups of the alternate cards we made at the meeting?

First, we made a really pretty card using Melon Mambo cardstock and the soon-to-be-retired Irresistibly Floral Designer Series Specialty Paper (you could use the Fancy Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper on the Clearance Rack too!) and a small strip from the soon-to-be-retired Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack. I ran a small piece through my Big Shot using the Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies and we colored it, just like in Sara's Paper Pumpkin video, using our watercolor pencils and the handy-dandy brush that came in the kit! Want the FULL set of Watercolor Pencils? They are now available! Don't have the handy-dandy brush that came with the kit? How about an Aqua Painter instead! There are ALWAYS substitutions!  :)  **The crafters were even able to use a saying from a NEW set for the inside of their cards!**

Then, for the second and final card, EVERYONE'S was different! How, you might ask? Because we used the soon-to-be-retired Celebrate Every Day Project Life Card Collection - which is on SALE! Because all of the cards match within the collection, we used my FAVORITE retiring color - Mint Macaron cardstock (which is ALSO on sale!) - and a little bit of Whisper White cardstock. THIS was a fast and easy card UNTIL... until we tried to play with those little Sprinkles Embellishments! These really dressed up the Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral punchouts of the soon-to-be-retired Petite Petal Punch - AND it's on sale too! - BUT - whew! are they little! The struggle was real - I'm just tellin' ya! And don't forget about the Fine-Tip Glue Pen - a DEFINITE MUST for those little guys too!

Latte Joy Team Meeting and a Sneak Peek!

Crafters -

Can I tell you a little bit about my team?

First, they are just the most wonderful people I know! Many were friends or customers first, and they decided to become a demonstrator with my team - let's face it - why NOT get the discount if you LOVE the product, right?

Second, we meet once a month but we "talk" daily on social media. We have a Facebook group and we share ideas, things that are going on, and we even pray for each other. We may have met as team members, but we have become friends too!

And finally, third. During our once a month meeting, we craft together, share in updating each other on various items with Stampin' Up! and just generally have a good time.

Ok, now you have the backstory!

Well, we met on Tuesday evening and we did miss a few of our ladies. One of the regular attendees actually was in the hospital! It was wonderful to hear from my team that they were praying for her. AND, although there were only three ladies at our team meeting, ALL THREE of them made a handmade card for our friend. I'm delivering it on Wednesday to her. These ladies not only talk the talk, they walk the walk! I am BEYOND BLESSED to part of such a wonderful group!

So, without further ado, want to see what we made? There is a new "suite" coming out in May. As demonstrators, we could preorder it in April so we could prepare for our upcoming classes. Stampin'Up! even gave us a "sample class" with instructions and dimensions - made it VERY easy!

Well, check it out!

I have a feeling that the new Eastern Palace Suite will be a BIG seller! LOVE the Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies!

Easter Blessings - Ronald McDonald House Charities

Crafters -

We are usually scheduled for the third Sunday of each month at the Columbus (Ohio) Ronald McDonald House. Well, for April, that happened to fall on Easter proper.

Gotta be honest. I thought about changing the date. Our immediate family is not close geographically. We usually travel that day. But, when I was doing the schedule a few months ago, and after speaking with hubby, decided to leave the date as it was scheduled. We figured we'd just work around it.

My team member, Linda K., also attends most of the RMHC events. She's actually attended EVERY ONE of them since she joined during Sale-A-Bration! Talk about that whole "where two or more gather..." - YUP! I am abundantly blessed!

So we met today. I gotta tell you - as soon as I made the announcement that we were making "Easter Egg Wreaths" in the cafeteria, BEFORE I EVEN MADE IT BACK TO THE TABLE, we had customers! Thank you Linda for being there!  :)

Check out what the table looked like about midpoint through our two-hour crafting!
Check out all the Easter Egg choices!
6" paper plates with a 3" circle cut out of the center.
We already had the ribbons and bows all ready to go!

And here are some of the BEAUTIFUL wreaths that were made!
When we began making the wreaths, we started with several people, RIGHT AWAY! It was GREAT! In speaking with two of them, we found that a mom and her 17-year old just arrived yesterday from UTAH! They were telling us that they had been waiting OVER A YEAR to be able to come here. We were telling them about Stampin'Up! being a corporate sponsor for Ronald McDonald House and these two ladies knew exactly where Riverton, Utah (SU! HQ) and even where Kanab, Utah (manufacturing plant!) are located! We don't realize what a small world it is until we talk with others...

We had a couple of grandmas stop over to make wreaths, and we even had an uncle! Let me assure you, this guy did not look like your typical crafter. He was telling me that he used to be able to come up all the time to help his sister-in-law and his 3-year old nephew. But he just took a job that has the hours of midnight-8am. So he drives up to Columbus from his job, about 3-4 hours, EVERY WEEKEND, to help out. Talk about family and commitment. You could tell too - the sun rises and sets on this little guy for his uncle.

Did you notice the all pink one, in the top right corner? This little girl wanted to make TWO wreaths. This was her second one. She went through every single egg to find the papers she wanted, with the designs she wanted. As she finished hers, her mom (and her sister too!) looked at the wreath and her mom said "now that's a (child's name) wreath!" This little girl just BEAMED!

ALL of the wreaths were works of art - and you notice that no two were alike!

And finally, I have to share these last two. But a little backstory first. These belong to a 6-year old boy and his 3-year old sister. The young man ate his lunch first, so he came over and made his while his little sister was finishing her lunch (no crafting until lunch is finished - or until Mom/Dad/Grandma/Uncle/WHOMEVER says!).

This little guy chose his 12 eggs and went right to town working on his wreath! As soon as he was finished, he let us know that he would be willing to help his sister - what a GREAT kid, huh? He went through several egg color choices with her, flipping each side so she could look at EVERYTHING! He then went through the eggs, one-by-one, to help her choose her colors and placement on the wreath. This guy is a BORN teacher with a GREAT deal of patience. You don't usually see a 6-year old that goes through all of this. But he did, for his little sister.

I pray your Easter is just as wonderful as mine has been. We are abundantly blessed!

Easter Message - Reverse Lenten Challenge Card

Crafters -

During Lent, I have been showcasing the eight card designs we made at my Reverse Lenten Challenge Class on February 15th. This is the final card. I hope you have enjoyed them as much as we did making them!

Here's the basics:
  • We made 40 notecards using the Whisper White and Crumb Cake Notecards and Envelopes
  • On March 1st, 2017, Ash Wednesday, we began giving or sending cards to others (there are 40 days of Lent, NOT INCLUDING Sundays)
  • Could be given to anyone - child's teacher, co-worker, grocery clerk, bank teller, mom in front of you who has her hands full! Anyone! You get to choose!

For this final card, I chose to showcase the Easter Message card. While I realized this is a seasonal set and it probably wouldn't make it to the catalog, I was hoping. I have used this stamp set MANY times in these few months and I know my customers have really enjoyed this set as well! Sadly, I must tell you that the set did NOT make it into the 2017-2018 Big Catalog. BUT it is still available through May 22nd.

This stamp set is available for $23 (wood mount) or just $17 for clear mount. The cross, of course, is beautiful. But I have used the Easter Lily stamp on several spring cards and also on my Easter Sampler. All supplies used, and the links to purchase them, are listed at the end of this blog posting.

We used a small piece of the Moroccan Designer Series Paper and a third of a Lace Doily on this card. And don't you just LOVE the Emerald Envy color? I'm SO looking forward to enjoying this color for the next year as a continuing 2016-2018 InColor!

We stamped using Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Ink for the cross and the inside sentiments. Then using the new Watercolor Pencils - SO GLAD these will be in the new catalog - we colored the design.

This was the final card made during this Reverse Lenten Challenge card class. I look forward to offering this class on an annual basis. It not only blesses the people we send our cards to, WE also are blessed by the comments and our friends.

I hope you have enjoyed all of the cards! All supplies used, and the links to purchase them, are listed at the end of this blog posting.

High Tide - Reverse Lenten Challenge Card

Crafters -

For the next several weeks (during Lent), I will be showcasing the card designs we did at my Reverse Lenten Challenge Class on February 15th.

Here's the basics:
  • We made 40 notecards using the Whisper White and Crumb Cake Notecards and Envelopes
  • On March 1st, 2017, Ash Wednesday, we began giving or sending cards to other (there are 40 days of Lent, NOT INCLUDING Sundays)
  • Can be anyone - child's teacher, co-worker, grocery clerk, bank teller, mom in front of you who has her hands full! Anyone! You get to choose!

For this week's card, I chose to showcase the High Tide card. I absolutely LOVE this stamp set AND (spoiler alert!), it made it into the NEW 2017-2018 Catalog too! It is a GREAT value for just $26 (photopolymer stamps) with all the sayings, the lighthouse, birds, water, sand, etc. My set is getting quite stained because I have used it so much! All supplies used, and the links to purchase them, are listed at the end of this blog posting.

Reverse Lenten Challenge Class

Everyone's cards were slightly different. There ARE six different papers, double-sided, to the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper and each one is just as beautiful as the next! AND, since the paper is retiring (we knew that was gonna happen since Mint Macaron was part of the colors in this paper!), AND ON SALE, it makes a PERFECT paper for this card. You may have even received a FREE package as a Sale-A-Bration benefit those last few weeks of March!

Did you notice that the lighthouse doesn't extend beyond the stitching on the Whisper White Square? Just put a post-it note on the stitched line and then stamp. Makes a VERY easy technique! And we only stamped one image of the lighthouse, not the 2-step stamping.

Add a strip of Mint Macaron (is anyone else going to miss this color? I know I am!) and a strip of the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper - SO glad this is staying too! and viola! you have a card that anyone will LOVE!
