May Coffee and Cards Class - Stampin' Up!

Crafters -

Hope you have been enjoying all the really cool designs that I've been showing this past week. I think they're cool!

I'm actually ahead of the game this week! You see, my mom lives out of state. Well, she was on a working vacation last week so we didn't get to talk with each other very much. So she called me on Tuesday morning and we were able to talk - for about TWO HOURS!!!!!!!

She is also a demonstrator, which means we were able to talk about all kinds of crafting things. And I was needing to do my samples for the May Coffee and Cards Class anyway... So I multi-tasked!

I sent her a draft photo to see what she thought and she approved. Probably not the kind of "hang on the refrigerator" type of approval, but she liked the cards too. Including her saying "That's the Open Sea, right? I have that stamp set!" Can't wait to see what she does with HER designs!

This design is patterned after the Melon Mambo Birthday Cards I demonstrated at my Team meeting on Sunday. You can read about that posting HERE. Tami Ackerson demonstrated this at my upline's meeting earlier this month. For years, I have cut my retired 12"x12" paper and made them into cards. I could get six cards from each sheet. Well, Tami took it to the next level and showed us how to make four cards AND a really cute little box from each sheet.

I had planned to make a Mini Magazine Holder and a set of cards for the May Coffee and Cards, and thought... hmmm... why not make the four cards, the cute little box, AND the Mini Magazine Holder for the class?!

We will be using The Open Sea and Sassy Salutation Stamp sets, along with the Typeset Speciality Designer Series Paper. ALL three items are RETIRING! Guess I shouldn't really be upset; I have used the daylights out of those two stamp sets and the Typeset DSP is probably ready to retire. Funny how we get comfortable with certain items, huh?

So how about a little story (it was patterned after a much loved children's classic)...
If you give a crafter a stamp pad, she's going to ask for a blender pen.
When you give her the blender pen, she'll probably ask you for some cardstock.
When she's finished coloring, she'll ask for a solid color of cardstock to back the artwork.
She will probably want a 2.5" Circle Punch (soon to be retired)
to place her 2" circle punchout with her artwork onto.
She will want to look at the artwork circle to make sure it is centered
and lined up correctly with the blue banner strip.
She might notice that the artwork circle would look nice with some Stampin' Dimensionals.
So she'll probably ask for a package of Stampin' Dimensionals (available at the class!)
When she's finished placing her dimensionals on her circle punchout,
she'll probably notice that there is some adhesive on her Paper Snips,
she'll want some rubbing alcohol to clean the residue from her Paper Snips.
She may even end up cleaning all of the scissors at the class as well!
When she's done, she'll probably want a mini magazine file for the cards.
You'll have to fix up a mini magazine file for her,
already scored and marked for her for cutting and assembly.
She will look at the paper and make herself comfortable,
and cut and burnish the score lines.
She'll probably ask you to read her something from the Stampin' Up! catalog.
So you'll read to her from the Stampin' Up! catalog, and she'll ask to see at the pictures.
When she looks at the pictures, she'll get so excited she'll want a catalog of her own!
She'll ask for stamps, and papers, and stamp pads.
She'll make a card.
When the card is finished,
she will want to sign her name on the back
using the Creatively Yours Stamp Set (soon to be retired),
with a matching Stampin' Write marker.
Then she'll want to give her card to someone special.
Which means she'll need SNAIL adhesive.
She'll put the card together and stand back to look at it.
Which will remind her that she needs more cards.
She'll ask for more cardstock
And chances are...
if she asks for more cardstock,
she's going to want a stamp pad to go with it.

If you play your cards right, I may even read this story to you at the class! I miss reading the kid stories, and the teenager won't let me read them to him anymore. It was always fun reading those at the library for the kindergartners and such. How many of us did those little voices for the different characters? What do you think?

But I digress...

Without further ado, here is my sample for the May Coffee and Cards:
May Coffee and Cards Class
May 18, 2016

Now, your paper design may vary. Everything will be cut and ready to go for you. You may have noticed that there is some coloring involved. There will be stamp pads and blender pens available for use. Chances are... you were going to ask for some!

Look forward to seeing you on Saturday, May 18th!

Projects from Sale-A-Bration Celebration - Stampin' Up!

Crafters -

I had a BLAST last Saturday with some of my crafters. This is the second year we have done this and TWO of the crafters attended BOTH years. While this year was a little different, both crafters agreed that BOTH years were fun!

Last year (2015), while the crafters LOVED all of the projects, they asked me to show a technique for the 2016 Sale-A-Bration Celebration. So that's what I did!

One of my favorite stamp sets, Swallowtail, is retiring. As you know, Stampin' Up! has let us know that if something on the Retiring List sells out, it sells out. However, because they make their own stamp sets, those are still available a bit longer. (They do have to gear up for production of the NEW stamp sets in the 2016-2017 catalog!) So Mr. Swallowtail should be around at least until May 15th.

And you know how much I LOVE my 2014-2016 InColors! Blackberry Bliss is my favorite and I'm really going to miss that one. BUT, I just like how all of the colors mesh together. So I grabbed my 2014-2016 InColor Stampin' Write Markers (which are marked down on the Retiring List!), along with Mr. Swallowtail, and some Whisper White Cardstock. The final technique I demonstrated was the Thumping Technique. This is not a new technique. I actually blogged about this THREE YEARS AGO on this post HERE.

FYI - if you are a new stamper and wish to make this card,
I would recommend you order the Swallowtail stamp in WOOD mount.
That way you have it ready to go!

It is such a wonderful and EASY technique to do. Check it out!

This one definitely went into the SCORE category! EVERYONE loved it! My friend Faye brought her daughter Marcia to the party as her guest. Marcia is the one that actually got Faye into Stampin' Up! So Marcia had seen the technique before (and I'm embellishing here), but she was just WOWED! OVER. THE. TOP.  with my demonstration (hahaha!). Seriously, everyone really liked it!

Here is a group shot of all of the projects each crafter made and/or saw demonstrated.

Check back next week for an up-close of the REST of the projects! Many are on the Retiring List, so don't delay if you want to get them!

Team Meeting Projects! - Stampin' Up!

Crafters -

Don't know about you, but the weather has been absolutely BEAUTIFUL here in Central Ohio! We have been working in the yard (still a HUGE amount to do!), along with a few home repairs. The garage door is on its last leg, so the new one is being installed on Thursday, and the dishwasher has finally breathed its last breath. The new dishwasher is being installed on Wednesday. Always something huh?

But, we will NOT allow the humdrum, boring, required, things of life to keep us from crafting!!!! We will IMPROVISE. ADAPT. OVERCOME. (Thank you Gunny Highway for that!)

I had my Sale-A-Bration Celebration on Saturday, and let me assure you. EVERYONE had a GREAT time! We played with project kits, made a few things, won a few things, and even had some demonstrations including a new technique to many. The oldies sometimes are the best ones to use! I'll post more on that later this week.

On Sunday, I had my Team Meeting. The Latte Joy Stampers. And we had FUN! Want to see a couple of things we made?
*NOTE: All supplies are listed at the end of this blog posting.

First thing we did was make one of those self-closing boxes. We made this on Saturday at the Sale-A-Bration Celebration. With graduations, Mother's Day, Father's Day, weddings, etc., all within the next few months, this makes a cute little box to place a gift card! So we made one at our Team Meeting too! (FYI - Sale-A-Bration items were used on this sample)
Self-Closing Box

Then, we moved onto a set of three cards. In Stampin' Up!'s quarterly magazine, Stampin' Success, they show us different ways to do things. Sometimes, they show a way to "step up" a card or design. So I thought we would do that for our meeting! I wanted to use supplies that are not retiring, so check out what we made!

Step 1 is the basic card.

Step 2 added another stamp color and a little bit more bling.

Step 3 was our WOW! card.
This one added more stamping, coloring with markers and blender pens, spritzing with rubbing alcohol and reinkers, and even added a little bit of ribbon (LOVE that the Silver Satin Ribbon is staying - I LOVE this stuff!).

And finally, to end the day, I also demonstrated a really cool idea! Tami Ackerson demonstrated this at my upline's meeting earlier in April. This is SUCH a great idea, so much so that I CASED it almost exactly!

FYI - This is similar to the Coffee and Cards May class that will be offered. I will be posting photos of that class around May 1st.

Here is the final "group" shot of all the projects:

Bible Journaling using The Open Sea - Stampin' Up!

My friend Brandi started a Bible Journaling Class once a month at our church. I use my Bible for my weekly Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) class that I attend. And I highlight in my Bible. Sometimes leaving notes to myself if something has struck me. Let's face it - we can read the same scripture and get something different each time we read it - LOVE that God's Word meets us where we are!

So... I wasn't really sure that I wanted to get into this Bible Journaling. I can't really draw. Stick figures - yup! Curvy "V" for a bird flying in the sky - I'm your gal! But actually drawing? Yeah... that is NOT one of my gifts NOR one of my talents!

Well, Brandi had a Stampin' Up! party in March and she ordered several stamp sets. She started stamping in her Journaling Bible! ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!!!! And with that, I was hooked!

She asked me to come to the April class to show how to use stamps and blender pens. I brought a few of my favorites. Now, keep in mind, I'm new to this. Draw in my Bible? YIKES!!!!! Especially since it is not my gift? DOUBLE YIKES!!!!

I HAD AN ABSOLUTE BLAST! I'm still new at it, so I'm still very tentative. I use my Bible and I like to be able to read the words.

Well, today Brandi posted that we would be doing Hebrews for the May class (which I will be missing... sniff, sniff). And she asked us to share some of our favorite Hebrews verses.

Here's mine:
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
Hebrews 6:19 (NIV)

AND, because every time I look at an anchor, I see the cross, this is what I had done a few weeks ago for one of my FIRST things to journal!

What do you think? Very basic and I hope you can tell that this was a BIG step for me to color in my Bible!

I stamped this using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad, and colored the cross with one of my blender pens and Elegant Eggplant. You might not be able to see it, but I also colored the rope VERY FAINTLY with Cherry Cobbler and my blender pen (LOVE THOSE THINGS!).

FYI - when you use a blender pen and a LIGHT TOUCH, it will not bleed through the page as much. It still does somewhat, but it is faint.

Know where I got the anchor from? One of my favorite stamp sets! (HINT - It's in the title of this post!) The Open Sea. It is on the retired list and there is also an anchor in the Guy Greetings Stamp Set, but I like this one better. I think it's "prettier." I'm so going to miss The Open Sea Stamp Set!

Do you see the cross in the anchor too?

Hope you enjoy this and would LOVE you to share your joy of stamping with His Word too!

Everything Eleanor and Birthday Blooms - Stampin' Up!

Well, what do you think about the Retiring List? Was anything a surprise to you?

There were a few that surprised me. BUT when I saw the new catalog, some of them actually made sense to me! So, I'm gonna guess that the other ones I'm not understanding, also have a real, live, reason for the change!

As many of you know, I meet with a wonderful group of ladies each week for our Bible Study Fellowship. Each week, I try to leave a little something on their chairs to brighten their days. Recently, a friend of mine purchased several items at a local big box store and gave them to me to use. She found these cute little white burlap bags and it got me to thinking.

I know I can stamp on our Mini Muslin Bags, but I was out of those. And since I had these white burlap bags from my friend... what to do? what to do?

You got it! I stamped on them!

I have ALWAYS liked the pretty little flourish in the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set and I absolutely LOVE the pretty flower in the Birthday Blooms Stamp Set, so I decided to combine the two! Check it out!
Burlap Bags for my BSF Buddies!

Inside these cute little bags, I used the Banner Blessings Stamp Set. Using my Early Espresso Stamp Pad, I just stamped the four different greetings on the cards placed inside. To make it easy, I made those really GREAT little 3"x3" cards. Hope the ladies like them!

Finally, you will notice I used a couple of the Retiring Items:

Lovely Little Wreath and All About Everything - Stampin' Up!

Ok, so I blogged about this GREAT Paper Pumpkin kit yesterday when I made that extra little card. But I have GOT to show how my wreath came out!

What do you think?
Lovely Little Wreath Kit
Using All About Everything Stamp Set
#allabouteverything

And here's another picture, this time with the tags and the extra black papers.
April 2016 Paper Pumpkin Kit and Stamp Sets
I used almost everything from the kit. The directions show that you should have some extra green leaf pieces, but I used up almost everything! I have just a small portion of one of the sticky strips! And I used all of the yellow flowers and almost all of the cotton ribbon. I have about 6" of the ribbon left, so I may use that to put around a set of cards. LOVE this cotton ribbon!

I'm going to put the tags onto a variety of cards and send or give those out. I did use the All About Everything Stamp Set for the majority of the tags. I really REALLY like that stamp set!

I am going to put this cute little wreath in my craft room on a wall hook.

And my favorite tag is the "You are my Everything" (bottom right) - I think I know a special someone who has an anniversary coming up. YUP! We will be celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary! Shhh.... don't tell hubby, ok? Our little secret!

Hope you enjoy these cute projects!

Coffee and Cards, Rose Garden Thinlits - Stampin' Up!

I just came back from that state up north in the wee hours this morning. My upline had our Team Meeting on Tuesday evening.

SO. MANY. IDEAS.

It's always so much fun to play with other stamps and another person's ideas! I'll post more on that later this month.

BUT in the meantime, this weekend's Coffee and Cards Class uses the Rose Garden Thinlits AND the Rose Wonder Stamp Set (when you BUNDLE them, you save 15%!). But with the Rose Garden Thinlits on the Weekly Deals right now, it's actually WAY cheaper to purchase them separately!

You've already seen the sneak peek of the two cards, the bag and the box that we will be making:

Want to see just a little bit more of the Mossy Meadow card?

I just LOVE this card - it is one of my favorites!

And with the class fee this weekend, you will also receive a $5 credit towards an order placed during the class. So, if you want to order the Rose Garden Thinlits, this is a GREAT way to order them AND save money!

Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Paper Pumpkin Past Kit - Stampin' Up!

So... you read about me taking my Paper Pumpkin with me yesterday when I was getting my oil change. I blogged about it HERE.

For some unknown reason, and I'm sure it was ME!, I was unable to upload my work-in-progress photo, so here that one is:

Working on my Paper Pumpkin while getting the oil changed!
Who else knew exactly how portable this kit was?

BUT (and remember, I already have a LOT of supplies!), I wanted the Love You A Lot Paper Pumpkin Kit to be used NOW... The stamp set came with "Mom" and "Dad" and "Love You" stamps, WHICH ARE GREAT, but I cannot use them right now, this month of April.

So, I substituted my Birthday Blooms Clear Mount Stamp Set. I gotta tell you, I'm really, really, really, hoping this one makes it to the BIG catty! I LOVE this stamp set!

So, using my Crushed Curry, Pacific Point, and Garden Green Stampin' Write Markers, along with the Birthday Blooms Stamp set, I improvised, adapted, and overcame! Please note, only the Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Marker is available individually. Otherwise, to get the Crushed Curry and Garden Green markers, you would want to get the Regals Collection of Stampin' Write Markers. Pacific Point is in the Brights Collection of Stampin' Write Markers. By getting both of these sets, you will have SO. MANY. COLORS. to choose from!

Check out the final product!

Love You a Lot Paper Pumpkin
Past Kit Refill

LOVE THEM!!!!

AND, almost everything was done by the time they changed my oil, rotated my tires, and washed my car. I only had to put together the bows and adhere them. You will NEVER guess when I put those bows together! I was meeting my husband for lunch that same afternoon, literally an hour after my oil change. So, since I arrived at the restaurant before he did, I sat in my car and with the radio on, I used my mini glue dots, some of which are included with the kit, and put together the bows. Then I used my Stampin' Dimensionals, some of which are also included with the kit, and put the bows onto the card pockets! Done!

And, as of right now, the Love You a Lot Paper Pumpkin REFILL is still available for just $8!

So cute AND easy! No idle hands here (Proverbs 16:27-The Living Bible).

Hope you enjoyed these ideas!

Don't forget to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin before April 10th - JOIN NOW! With the April kit, we will be receiving an ADDITIONAL stamp set with our kits. Thank You Stampin' Up!

LOVE My Paper Pumpkin AND Refills - Stampin'Up!

I received the Love You a Lot Paper Pumpkin (Past Kit) with my Starter Kit in January.

I've CASEd this design for other parties.

But today, I'm getting an oil change on my car. And it's rainy and gray outside. And I brought my Paper Pumpkin with me, but I substituted Birthday Blooms for the stamp set. And because I have so many supplies, I brought along my full size stamp pads and matching markers.

So guess what I'm doing while waiting for the oil change?

I just LOVE how portable Paper Pumpkin is! Check back tomorrow and I'll show the finished projects!

Enjoy!

Petite Petals Class - Stampin' Up!

Petite Petals Stamp Set has been around for a while. It has always been one of my "Go-To" stamp sets.

And when you pair it with the Petite Petals Punch and BUNDLE IT, you also save 15%!

So, since Sale-A-Bration has officially wound down, it got me a-thinkin'. How about using the Petite Petals Bundle, paired with the Birthday Bouquet Cardstock Pack, adding in a few rhinestones and viola!
Petite Petals Class
May 7, 2016
RSVP by April 23rd

This Petite Petals Class will add a variety of items and embellishments. This is a GREAT way to try out several products without the expense! Try before you buy!

Some of the supplies we will use during the class are the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, the Cups and Kettle Framelits Dies. We will also be embossing using the Brick Wall and Fun Frames Embossing Folders. And how about some of the Baker's Twine Combo Pack, the Bermuda Bay 1/8" Stitched Ribbon, and even a little bit of the Watermelon Wonder 1" Stitched Satin Ribbon? For some bling, we will use the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, the Silver Metallic Baker's Twine, and the Wink of Stella will even make an appearance!

You may notice that the tags on the bottom right may look a tad familiar... Check out page 78 of the BIG Catalog. I changed the colors but the designs are similar. We will use the Tin of Cards Stamp Set for those tags. The tags are perfect for gift bags OR you could even put them on a card! I have also added the Sassy Salutations, Petite Pairs, and Hardwood BG Stamp Sets.

This is such a GREAT way to play with some of the toys!

Look forward to seeing you at one of my classes!
