FREE TUTORIAL - Rose Wonder - Stampin' Up!

Don't you just LOVE it when a card is really easy to put together? I know I do!

Sale-A-Bration ends on Thursday, March 31st. That's TOMORROW!!!!

Quick! Got your order ready? Ok, check out this really cute and easy card:
Rose Wonder
Crumb Cake Note Card & Envelopes
And when you place your Sale-A-Bration order today or tomorrow, this is the card I will send to you!

Enjoy!

Here are the supplies needed:
Crumb Cake Note Cards and Envelopes (you get 20 cards and envelopes for just $6)
Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad
Rose Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set (don't forget your clear blocks!)
Farmers Market Designer Series Paper
**NOTE: If you like this Farmers Market DSP, order it soon. It has THREE of the soon-to-be-retired InColors in this package. That means it will be gone soon...  :(
Very Vanilla Cardstock
Gold Metallic Baker's Twine
Gold Sequin Trim
Itty Bitty Accent Epoxy Stickers
SNAIL Adhesive (SNAIL with holder and/or SNAIL refill)
Stampin' Dimensionals
Mini Glue Dots
2-Way Glue Pen
(Also needed - a Gold Sharpie Marker, available at your local Big Box Store)

Here's the recipe - a FREE TUTORIAL!

  1. Using a crumb cake note card, trim 1/8" off the long side (this allows the card to slide into the envelope a little easier). So the card is now 4-7/8" x 7" instead of the 5"x7".
  2. Stamp the large flower from Rose Wonder, using Early Espresso Ink, onto the front of the note card. Don't forget to stamp the envelope too - no naked envelopes
  3. Using a 1" x 3.25" piece of paper from the Farmers Market DSP, adhere to top right corner of card. (I used the Cherry Cobbler polka dotted paper. It's on the back of the vanilla/black striped paper.)
  4. Using a 0.75" x 2" Very Vanilla Scrap, stamp your sentiment using Early Espresso.
  5. Place Stampin' Dimensionals on the back of the Very Vanilla sentiment.
  6. Adhere to Farmers Market DSP strip.
  7. Tie a bow using the Gold Baker's Twine and adhere to Very Vanilla sentiment using a Glue Dot.
  8. Using a 2-way Glue Pen, place three gold sequins on the card. ALLOW THIS TO DRY BEFORE YOU PLACE THE CARD IN THE ENVELOPE! Trust me on this one! :)
  9. Using any of the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers, color it with a Gold Sharpie Marker. Allow it dry and adhere to center of flower. You can choose to use the circle, heart or star stickers; they all look nice!
  10. Write a nice note inside and send to someone special. You will brighten his or her day!
  11. Enjoy!

Wildflower Fields DSP and Flowering Fields Stamp Set - Stampin' Up!

As I'm typing this, it is March 28th! Just a few more days left for Sale-A-Bration!

I want to show you what I am working on:
Self Closing Boxes
Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper

Aren't they so stinking cute?! I know, I know. These self-closing boxes have been around for a little while, but I just discovered them. And I have a few sheets of the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper left. So, since the 2014-2016 InColors are soon to retire, and those colors are in this DSP, why not pair them?

Why not add a cute little notetag with the Flowering Fields Stamp Set? I used a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock, my Note Tag Punch, and the soon to be retiring 2014-2016 InColor Markers. Added about 7" of the Silver 5/8" Satin Ribbon and used my Handheld Stapler to adhere all to the top and SCORE!

What about a video? Wouldn't that be neat? Well, that is on my "to do" list for this week. Please check back and let me know what you think when I DO the video!

Want to see another technique or idea? Let me know what you would like to see and I'll see if I can do another stamping video!

It's March 24th as I'm typing this, which means there is only one week left.

  • One week to receive a FREE Sale-A-Bration item with your $50 merchandise order.
  • One week left to earn $25 more Stampin' Rewards with your qualifying party during Sale-A-Bration.
  • Please note: If there is a Sale-A-Bration item you REALLY want, get them now.
  • Product availability may be limited toward the end of the promotional sales period.

And on an unrelated topic...

How about another use for the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper?

Backstory: The boy had to read a book for English class. Then they had to do a project with it. They had several choices of the books, and the styles of project.

SO, the boy decided to read Angela's Ashes. Sorry, no, I have never read this book, so I knew nothing about it. Well... the boy decided that he would do a diorama for his project about the Angel on the Seventh Step. Apparently, this angel brings his mother the babies. And our boy wanted to use Legos for his diorama about this Angel on the Seventh Step.

BUT, in all of our THOUSANDS of pieces of Legos, we did not have any angel wings. How else would you be able to tell that Lego Luke Skywalker was an angel? Yes, he was on the seventh step from the top, but it's not like he wore a sign that said "angel." Know what I mean?

What to do? What to do?

Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

Grabbing a VERY small leftover piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, we made some angel wings and adhered them together. So the glimmer paper showed on both sides. And we attached the wings to the back of Angel Luke Skywalker with a glue dot.  DONE!

Picking the boy up from school today, he told me that Mr. T., his English teacher, said that he liked the boy's project. And that Legos have come a long way. Mr. T. even mentioned to the boy that they didn't have Angel Wings when he played with his Legos as a boy. :) Guess they looked pretty good, huh? FYI - The boy told the truth, that the angel wings were from his mom's stampin' supplies. What a GREAT kid, huh?  :)

What do you think? Who knew that Stampin' Up!'s Glimmer Paper could be used with Legos and in an educational setting? Although we used Dazzling Diamonds here, Gold or Silver could also be used. Red and Blushing Bride are also available.

Enjoy!

Card Bash - #imbringingbirthdaysback - Stampin' Up!

That's right! Can you believe the Card Bash making eight birthday cards for $15 is NEXT Tuesday (Tuesday, March 29th)? Seems like I just did my March calendar! When you look at the calendar, you will see that the last Tuesday of each month now has this Card Bash class. The cost is $15 (prepay only) AND when you place a qualifying order during the class, the class is FREE! What could be better than that? Free cards AND ordering stuff you were already planning to order? WIN-WIN!

Want a little sneak peek on the cards that we will be making? There are 4 designs and you will make 2 of each.
Card Bash
March 29, 2016
9a-11a

You already saw the card in the top right corner on my CLASSES page, but thought you would like to see a small snippet of the others we will be making.
This is just ONE of the card designs
we will be making on March 29, 2016!

I'm not sure which one is my favorite...

As these are all birthday cards, I even ordered the #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp! I have been handwriting it on the back of the cards and the envelopes. When I did those 30 cards the other day with my April 2016 Paper Pumpkin (Pocketful of Cheer refills are available), yeah... decided I needed to get that stamp! You can use my stamp while you are here too! TRUST ME! Way easier than handwriting it all those times! (Stampin' Up! did sell out of the #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp within four hours when they first made it available. They have the stamp in stock and it is available NOW! It is a single, wood-mount stamp. I made mine into a clear-mount stamp. You can see it on the 29th!)

This movement is really making a difference. I send cards for our Card Ministry at our church and I send my own personal cards. In just the past couple of weeks, I've received phone calls and Facebook posts because these birthday cards ARE connecting PEOPLE!

With Sale-A-Bration ending on March 31st, this is an ideal time to make cards for free - especially since we are all trying to get our last minute goodies with Sale-A-Bration! And mark your calendar for the last Tuesday of EACH MONTH. I'm planning this daytime class each month! You can always see my calendars HERE.

Enjoy the birthday card designs!

Happy Easter Honeycomb Happiness - Stampin' Up!

As I type this, I realize that there are just TEN DAYS left for Sale-A-Bration! TEN DAYS!!!!

Don't forget to check the Weekly Deals and the Clearance Rack too!

Weekly Deals

I know it only comes around once a year, but it really is one of my favorite times of the Stampin' Up! year. Sale-A-Bration is always FUN! We get fun FREE extras. Sometimes things we LOVE; other times, things we can't really see ourselves using.

I won the Honeycomb Happiness Stamp Set while at my upline's team meeting. The first meeting I had attended. Let's face it - I had just joined in January, so February was the first meeting I went to. Knew I would be going to her meetings (she doesn't live that far away). And when I went to select my prize, I grabbed Honeycomb Happiness because it was paired with Greatest Greetings Stamp Set (yes, I do have the BEST trainer who encourages creativity!). And I thought that the Greatest Greetings set would be a good set to have. Cute sayings, etc.

Yeah... Famous. Last. Words. I use Mr. Chick from this set ALL. THE. TIME.  (Do check back later this week for yet another cute Mr. Chick idea too!)

I mailed my Easter cards and the March/April calendar to my customers the other day. Tonight I received a text from one of my friends that she received the card, so I'm a-thinkin' it's clear to post a photo now of those Easter cards!

Here is a close-up of the card using Mr. Chick.

Happy Easter Honeycomb Happiness

And here's a half dozen eggs, I mean Mr. Chicks! He's just so cute!

Happy Easter Honeycomb Happiness
Half Dozen Eggs, I mean Mr. Chicks!

Want to know how I did it? Made the brick wall so colorful? Sponge Daubers and the soon-to-be-retired 2014-2016 InColors! No two look alike, AND some are more colorful, others more subdued. The photos really do not do them justice.

Want to know what supplies I used? Here's the recipe! (Don't forget - I used ALL of the 2014-2016 InColors. These always sell out quickly. Get your paper and REFILLS before they are all gone!)

Pocketful of Cheer Paper Pumpkin - Stampin' Up!

Today was a GREAT day! YUP! I'm typing this just before midnight and it was just a wonderful day! And it even rained here - after the beautiful sunshine-y weather earlier this week.

It was a G-R-E-A-T day!

You may ask "why was today a great day, Dawn?" Well, let me tell you!

First, at 9am was the Coffee and Cards class and we used the In the Meadow stamp set. I'll be updating the CLASSES page with a photo of the April Coffee and Cards later this week. Check back for that little goodie.

THEN, and usually our killer attack dog protects us from the evil mailperson by barking and growling, but he just slept through the mail delivery today. (He had protected us from the ferocious bunny rabbit in the back yard earlier; I guess he really did need his sleep.) After the class, I went to the mailbox and guess what was there? Go ahead - GUESS?

Spoiler alert - it was a very pretty BLUE box!!! Blue? What?! Go to the Paper Pumpkin Youtube channel and you can watch the March 2016 Paper Pumpkin video HERE.

Did you notice that the March 2016 Paper Pumpkin arrived in a BLUE box? Super cool!

Well, after watching the video, you can see the 8 gift cards and the 8 gift card envelopes that are in the Pocketful of Cheer Paper Pumpkin for March 2016.

Now, those of you who know me, you KNOW I always have to move things from the left to the right, from the front to the back, you know... kinda like that line in Sleepless in Seattle. When Tom Hanks' character is talking about a customer and he says something like "couldn't we move the front to the back and then put the front on a great big hinge so I could just get in with a garage door opener?" One of my many favorite lines in that movie.

But I digress! The printed paper on the envelopes in this month's kit is WOW!!!! Really. Really. Really. Wow! I thought it was too pretty to be on the INSIDE of the envelope as they showed. So I moved the inside to the outside. Let's face it. People throw away their envelopes. They don't keep them - I don't even keep 'em!

Guess what? I cut the envelope paper! YIKES! Don't tell Stampin' Up! I don't want them to cancel on me, especially since we are getting that exclusive FREE stamp set with the April Paper Pumpkin (if you haven't seen that information, HERE is the video from Sara).

Alright, I've kept you in suspense long enough.  :)

I did cut most of the papers in half, punched out of the middles, etc. I also added some Whisper White Cardstock and Pool Party Cardstock for the card bases, along with SCRAPS of Cucumber Crush, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, and Kraft Cardstock. The Pocketful of Cheer kit arrived with a Bermuda Bay Stampin' Spot, and I also had a Cucumber Crush Stampin' Spot, and I used that as well.

I was able to make 30 cards - yes, 30 cards! PLUS the 4 little gift card envelopes too! And yes, I altered the designs slightly so I could use that really pretty baker's twine on more of the cards. When I ran out of that, I had some old thick baker's twine from last year that I used. Threw on a few of the Bermuda Bay Sequins, used my Banner and Elegant Butterfly punches, and just WOW! You will notice four of the five card designs use the same size layered square on the cards.

And I made them ALL BIRTHDAY CARDS. With this whole #imbringingbirthdaysback, I had 3 - yes THREE birthday cards left! Granted, I have already mailed out the birthday cards for those at the beginning of April, but I was almost out! Now I have 30 more. That should last me a day or two. Although... SPOILER ALERT!!! I'm holding back one of each of these cards for a surprise, which means I really only have 25. ;)

Hope you enjoy these alternate ideas for YOUR Pocketful of Cheer Paper Pumpkin Kit!

Let me know if you have any questions. AND GO! SUBSCRIBE to Paper Pumpkin now! They are GIVING us a FREE STAMP SET with the April Paper Pumpkin! You have to subscribe by April 10th. It's easy to Join Now!

Can't wait to see what YOU do with YOUR kits!

Sneak Peek at Birthday Blooms Class - Stampin' Up!

I apparently have WAY too many favorite stamp sets and papers in the Occasions Catalog (good through May 31st or while supplies last).

My scheduled class for Saturday, April 2nd, uses the Birthday Blooms Stamp Set and the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper.

Want a little sneak peek at one of the cards we will be making on April 2nd?

Keep in mind that we will be doing heat embossing and coloring with blender pens.

Check out one of the sneak peeks of the cards we will be making:
Birthday Blooms Class
April 2, 2016

SO. STINKIN'. CUTE.

And, really easy... Really.... I promise, I will show you how to do this when you attend the class!

Heat embossing, I think, ALWAYS looks so cool. And people don't realize how easy it actually is! It took me longer to do the coloring than the embossing!

You can see all the really cool goodies that you will receive with this class HERE on the Classes Page. AND because I have to order the supplies in March, you will also be able to pick out a Sale-A-Bration item. Yes, I know this class is in April, but I thought that was really more fair. What do you think?  :)

Look forward to seeing you on April 2nd!

Bow Builder Punch and Petite Petals - Stampin 'Up!

So, many of you know I rejoined Stampin' Up! in January. When I received my Starter Kit (by the way, a GREAT deal - $99 for $155 worth of merchandise!), Stampin' Up! also sent me a past kit by Paper Pumpkin. I was previously a subscriber to this wonderful program and am proud to say, I am again! :)

The kit that was included in my Starter Kit, and it was the same kit that my Team has also received, is the Love You a Lot Paper Pumpkin and the refills are still available. It is a cute and different type of card.
Love You a Lot Paper Pumpkin Refill Kit

And this week, the Bow Builder Punch is on the Weekly Deals. Remember, the Weekly Deals reset Tuesday morning. SO, if you want something on the Weekly Deals, order it by Monday evening!

I've had this punch for a while and every now and again, I pull it out and use it. This makes a REALLY cute bow for a variety of items.

When I looked at the cute little pocket cards that went with this kit, forgetting that blue and yellow should NEVER go together (says the person who resides in the greater Columbus, Ohio area - GO BUCKS!), I noticed the pattern on the cards. It kinds looks like a design in the It's My Party Designer Series Paper Stack. And I have the nice thick Kraft Cardstock, which got me a thinkin'... OH YEAH - and I still had ONE sheet of the Crushed Curry paper in the Have a Cuppa Designer Series Paper Stack - my absolute FAVORITE DSP right now.

SO... using my Paper Pumpkin kit and those supplies, I began with this:

And this is the end result:

SO. STINKIN. CUTE. We added about 10" of the Gold Metallic Baker's Twine and a little bling with the Rhinestone Jewels, ALSO on the Weekly Deals this week!

But wait! There's more!  :)

I also had a package of the Shine On Specialty Designer Series Paper. When I saw this in the catalog, I thought "well, that's pretty, but I won't use that." Famous last words, huh? I won this package of paper at my upline's meeting in February and it has kinda sat in with my papers because I've been playing with other toys right now. You probably noticed, that picture in the catalog just does NOT do this beauty justice!

As I was cutting out the pockets from my Kraft Cardstock (FYI - you can get two out of each 12"x12" sheet), I ran out! I grabbed a few sheets of the Crumb Cake Cardstock, since they are similar. Yeah... they are similar, but they are not the same. Kraft Cardstock will be on my next order!

Then the lightbulb went on. I grabbed the Shine On Specialty DSP and check this out! AND I used my Sale-A-Bration Wildflower Fields Designer Series Papers. LOVE THIS STUFF! Almost as much as my Cuppa papers, but not quite...

CHECK. THIS. OUT.
Pocket Card using:
Shine On Specialty Designer Series Papers
Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper
Perfect Pairings Stamp Set
Petite Petals Stamp Set & Petite Petals Punch
(Petite Petals Bundle - save 15%!)

Added a little Cucumber Crush 1" Dotted Lace Trim Ribbon, and viola!

We made the Crushed Curry Pocket Card at Brandi's party this weekend. If you'd like to make this card at YOUR party, let me know! I'd LOVE to schedule a Stampin' Up! party with you!

Who's Ready to Party? - Stampin'Up! Style

Today is Brandi's party and we are ready to go!

Can't wait to see the crafters and play with our goodies. I'll post photos later but let me assure you - these are some really cute projects!

Want a couple of sneak peeks? Here are two of them!

Let me know if you want to do any of these are YOUR party - Sale-a-Bration is almost over!

Serene Silhouettes Plus Thumping Equals ??? - Stampin' Up!

a really cool technique card@

Well, that's a weird title, wouldn't you say? I would and I wrote the silly thing!  :)

Serene Silhouettes is such a GREAT stamp set. I have had this set for several years and I have used and re-used each of the stamps several times. Click HERE to see the stamp set at my online store. Again, the photo just doesn't do this set justice.

We had our Team Meeting last Sunday. We made a set of notecards and envelopes and had fun going over some information. We were talking and laughing for several hours! And we used one of my favorites - Rich Razzleberry - which you may know - is a VERY highly pigmented ink. So I had LOTS of ink on my fingers when we were done.

Side story. After stamping with my Team, I went into my old job to see one of my friends, Mike. Now Mike is about 6'4", maybe 6'5", and I'm not even gonna guess his weight! He's thin, but with that height... I'm not even gonna take a gander! So I'm talking with him and there are others around us while we were gabbing. All of a sudden, Mike grabs my hand and starts telling one of the other men that I'm a serious stamper - just look at all this ink on my hands! Ha ha ha! Mike is such a character. But he was right! I do love my stamping!  :)

Ok, so back to the stamping. I like the "Wow!" type of techniques. Don't do them a whole bunch, but they are really nice to know. Well... I like the technique called "Thumping." It's an oldie, but a goodie.

Check out what we made using the Thumping Technique on the tree from Serene Silhouettes:

And here is Kathy with hers:

And after the meeting, since I really am going to miss my 2014-2016 InColors, I used each of the five colors and made this set:

Do you recognize the grid paper with the different colors on it? Here's a hint. Those are the 2014-2016 InColors. Any guesses?

You will not be able to find that paper exactly like shown. It is the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper! And I used the 2014-2016 InColor Stampin' Write Markers!

I wish I could take credit for this idea, but Ronda Wade just did this same thing with the Sale-a-Bration paper. And you saw how I copied it using the same markers but using the Sale-A-Bration Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper from THIS post. Such a GREAT idea and so stinkin' easy! The sideways banner is from the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack. I thought those papers fit VERY nicely with the 2014-2016 InColors!

This card really is a WOW! but is really easy and doesn't take much time. If you would like me to do this as a demonstration at YOUR party, let me know!

Enjoy!

Honeycomb Happiness Baker's Box - Stampin' Up!

Didn't you think yesterday's post was so cute using the Baker's Boxes with the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Papers? Now remember, we used thinlits, framelits, and several punches with those.

Well, check out today's Baker's Boxes!

How 'bout them apples, er... eggs? Aren't they so cute? And Mr. Chick from Honeycomb Happiness - isn't he just so adorable?!

We made something similar at our Card Ministry on Thursday evening, along with our cards. I think everyone really enjoyed this one the most!

Do you notice the small stars on the "you're eggstrordinary" stamp? These are the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers that I colored with a Sharpie Marker! Same with the heart on the Hello Honey Baker's Box as well! Added a Mini Metallic Clothespin to each and DONE!
